Zelda Velika’s work is formed through found text and imagery transformed through printmaking to produce prints and artists books. It is nihilistic yet optimistic, with an injection of colour and experimental print work. Feeling frustrated and downtrodden, her work captures something meaningful, vulnerable, yet deeply sincere. In contrast to the modern need for instant gratification, her work requires thoughtfulness and reflection. She has completed MA Multidisciplinary Printmaking at UWE, and is currently printing at Spike Island, she also exhibiting around the world.
She would like to show the world a mirror, and have people sit back and reflect on the damage which has been done, and could be avoided in the future, by taking time to cherish what we have.
